Telecoms Industry Courses

TAG's Telecoms courses cover the complete range of skills required for workers who must access telecoms and broadcasting towers, lighting towers, scaffolding, structural steelwork or roof spans using fall arrest equipment.

Climbing differs from rope access in that the worker uses their hands and feet to move within the structure, with PPE operating in fall arrest mode. Rope access uses twin ropes to suspend the worker instead of loading the structure, but is technically more complex.

Occasional Climber: Entry-level course which allows access to ladderways, towers and platforms plus elementary use of work positioning.

Advanced Climber: A full course which allows access to all areas of open steelwork, on towers and masts or structural steelwork in buildings. This course would also be suitable for Pylon Painters.

Antenna Rigger Basic: Core skills for experienced climbers who wish to develop rigging (load lifting and assembly) skills. The course covers LOLER operations, advanced climbing and anchor systems.

Antenna Rigger Advanced: Top-level climbing course developing from the Intermediate level, this includes elements of rescue and supervision. It is suitable for those planning and supervising riggers and structural assembly work at height.

Lifting and Slinging: Address the required skills for lifting and slinging operations within the industry and includes capstan winches.

Tower Rescue: Enables the advanced climber to further develop to allow them to rescue a person from anywhere on open steelwork or similar structures found within the industry where a straightforward lowering is possible.

Rescue and Evacuation: A more developed and advanced version of the Tower Rescue where easy rescue is not possible and use of cableways and deviation techniques is required.
