ER01 Entertainment Rigger : Safe Access
Overview
This 1-day course concentrates on core height safety for workers operating on sets and in venues. It covers legislation, use of safety harnesses, lanyards and lifelines, PPE management and inspection, mobile work platform (cherry picker) access and ladders. Fully revised for the 2004 Work At Height Regulations, this course provides the essential personal safety skills required for anyone working at height in filming, live venues or stadia. Ideal for sound and lighting technicians, followspotters, set dressers and grips, this course reflects the unique operating issues of entertainment in fixed venues and on tour.
The course complies with BS 7985 & BS 7905.
There is an element of assessment in this course.
Prerequisites
It is preferable that candidates have some experience of the entertainment rigging industry so that they are familiar with work terminology and equipment.
Who Should Attend
All workers in the entertainment industry (film, TV, music and live/theater) who need to access areas at height in part of their work function, using catwalks, mobile platforms, ladders or scaffolding. It is ideal for those working on gridfloors, flytowers or followspot gantries. It concentrates on personal access and is independent of your job function. Course Objectives & Content
On completion of the course, all delegates will be informed in:
- Know current / relevant standards and legislation
- Select, use and inspect relevant personal and installed PPE systems
- Select and identify safe anchors, structural safety of truss rigs and towers
- Work within the unique pressures of the live entertainment/venue industry
- Safely access mobile work platforms, ladders, catwalks and scaffold towers using PPE
