FP02 Height Safety 2 – Worker

Overview

On successful completion of this course, those attending will be provided with both the theoretical and practical skills required in order to use a range of fall arrest work position and restraint equipment. A key element of this course and where it differs from the FP01 training is the amount of practical application. Students spend a large amount of time practicing climbing techniques using temporary safety systems, installed and structural anchors.


Prerequisites

Medically fit with a head for heights and a reasonable level of fitness.


Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at those people who may be required to use a combination of dedicated and in-situ anchors, traverse and climb remaining attached at all times, use equipment to position and work.

  • The main dangers of working at height
  • Key legislation and standards
  • Hazards and risk when working at height
  • Syncope - what causes it and how to recognise and deal with the effects
  • Emergencies - includes requirements for rescue
  • Work categories – restraint/positioning/fall arrest
  • Equipment characteristics and limitations
  • Harnesses – fall arrest & positioning
  • Lanyards – fall arrest/positioning/adjustable/twin leg/tie back/inertia
  • Ancillary equipment – helmets, gloves etc
  • Anchor point (in-situ and dedicated) identification and selection
  • Temporary horizontal lifeline systems
  • Pre user inspection, equipment care, traceability and disposal requirements
  • Practical climbing techniques
