Confined Spaces
TAG's confined space program is simply unique. We offer a full range of standard
courses covering everything from basic safe access through BA, traversing and
multi-level, but we also provide the exact same courses in suspension
mode - working using industrial rope access techniques. TAG has
combined expertise from industry and rescue in both fields to produce an
unrivalled program of training that will satisfy almost every imaginable work
method. In combination with our STARR tactical and rescue programs, we also
provide extended confined space search and rescue instruction for the emergency
services, industrial site rescue teams and special operations (details on
request).
- CS01: Safe Access
A core module introducing
the regulations and legislation, safe working practices, risk assessment and
permitting, use of vertical access systems (winches, tripods and recovery
harnesses) plus gas detection and escape BA. This module is an essential
prerequisite of all other TAG confined space courses, and naturally is
available as a rope-access-based suspended mode module.
- CS02: Full Working BA
An optional module to permit the use of
compressed-air breathing apparatus (CABA) in confined spaces. This module
covers the use, selection and management of working BA operations and equipment
using self-contained and umbilical (hose-fed) systems. The suspended mode
version of this module is significantly different as the combination of working
BA and rope access is extremely specialised.
- CS03: Multi-stage Vertical Access
A module dedicated to accessing vertical systems
with more than one shaft. CS01 is a prerequisite. The suspended mode version of
this module covers rope access rebelaying and rope transfer.
- CS04: Traversing
Moving horizontally through confined spaces such
as sewers. CS01 and CS03 are prerequisites. The suspended mode version of this
module covers rope access traversing and bolt climbing.
- CS05: CS Rescue
A full-featured professional rescue module, requiring CS02 and CS03,
this provides a total skills package for those serving a dedicated CS
rescue role, in the emergency services or in industry. The suspended mode
version of this module is greatly extended and uses techniques similar to
IRATA level 3.
